As I mentioned a little in my intro post, I’ve actually been listening to a lot of Christmas music in the last week or so since they started playing it on the radio … the other night while I was driving home in particular, which got me thinking about which ones were actually my favorites.
Much like one certain S. Claus, I quickly started making a list:
(in no particular order)
Santa Claus is Coming to Town (by Bruce Springsteen)
a classic rocker plays a classic favorite!Deck the Halls (by Mannheim Steamroller)
my parents are both big fans, so for years this used to be the first song playing on the stereo when we came out to open presents on Christmas morningFeliz Navidad (by Jose Feliciano)
first introduced to this song by the ice skating scene in Christmas Eve on Sesame Street … it’s just a fun song!Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (by James Taylor)
just pour a mug of hot chocolate and curl up by the fire…the medley from A Muppet Family Christmas
all sorts of good ones – I’ll Be Home for Christmas, It’s In Every One of Us, We’ll Be Together on Christmas … love me some nostalgia at Christmastime! The Chanukah Song (by Adam Sandler)
What happened to Adam Sandler, anyways?! Didn’t he used to be funny???Another White Christmas (by Tim Cavanaugh)
I first discovered Tim Cavanaugh via The Bob & Tom Show and always loved the 1-minute songs that he did – this one’s a bit longer, but still hilarious! You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch! (by Tay Zonday)
truly a classic cartoon, made extra fun because I just love watching Tay’s videos on account of his ridiculously low voiceChristmas Don’t Be Late (by Alvin and the Chipmunks)
long before they were digitized into a series of horrible CGI movies, they were but three woodland creatures – one of whom really wanted a hula-hoop for Christmas…Happy Xmas (War is Over) (by John Lennon)
And one more non-goofy song to wrap this collection up – possibly one of my favorite Christmas songs of all-time, reminds me of New Years, for some reason…
Now I’m sure I’m going to think of about a dozen more that I want to swap around with these the moment I post this, but I suppose those will just have to wait for volume 2, won’t they?! 😉
In the meantime, however, apparently YouTube actually lets you embed playlists these days, too, so feel free to just click on the play button below and sit back to jingle out to my entire mix tape in all of its 44-minute glory!
