moving day #2 — HOT, BUT PRODUCTIVE…

I would’ve liked to have gotten more done today, but I keep telling myself that this is my “vacation,” too, and suddenly I don’t feel as bad about sleeping considerably later than I probably should have! I got an absolutely horrible night’s sleep because my air conditioner decided to stop working and I didn’t notice until it was too late to call maintenance. They ended up blaming it on me because I don’t change the filter every month like they say, but I have to wonder if they’d have been a bit nicer about it if I was sticking around… 😛

So I really only made one trip today, but computers are now all hooked up and awaiting Internet access; also unloaded my DVDs and with the additional shelf, it became clear that I need to emphasize movies on my Christmas list this year! First trip tomorrow morning is going to be pretty much entirely pictures / posters / lithographs / etc…, which is kind of sad because my apartment is starting to look really bare and empty again…mind you, the feeling doesn’t quite equate to when I moved here two years ago. I think the hardest part is just that it really hits home the Leslie Factor for me – she’s gone now and it won’t be long before her things are packed away in a box in the closet. Every once in a while the scenario will play through my head where she finally comes to see me, but I don’t live here anymore and the scene ends with her just in shock … I tell myself that if she really wants to find me, she’s still got plenty of ways to do so, but it’s still hard. Anyways, this wasn’t supposed to be a sad post, so I just hope that she’s happy now…she deserves nothing less…

Tomorrow is another day, though – the mid-way point of my week off – and with no television to distract me the entire evening, hopefully I’ll be able to make some progress for a change! As a side note: I’m still not happy with NBC this week, but for storyline reasons this time — we haven’t seen one of those huge sea monsters in, like, a month-and-a-half in Surface and the “big developments” between Pam and Jim that they’ve been promo’ing all week ended up just being yet another awkward moment that made Jim look stupid in The Office. Can somebody please turn off the repeat button so we can get on with these shows???

Good Lord – listen to me, I sound like a housewife who’s cheesed about her soaps! And on that note, we cue the music…

moving day #1 — SUCCESS

By golly, am I tired!!!

…and it’s not just because I only got four hours of sleep last night, either…honest! (Yeah – as you would guess, I ended up watching another movie last night after The Punisher…this one called New Suit which was VERY good, but that’s another blog post…) The official pick-up of the keys went flawlessly and I got a solid two trips of hauling done by day’s end. I figure I’ve probably got about one more left tomorrow and my office will be done, which by the way is going to be absolutely sweet once again! If there’s one thing that I’m really excited about, it’s finally having a sizable area to do all of my creative stuff again – I really think it’s going to help me get back on track with what I want to do: comics, writing, websites – you name it…

I’m going to try to get pictures put together tomorrow or the next day – Internet is supposed to get setup on Wednesday, unless I get around to tapping the neighbors’ unprotected wi-fi in the meantime (only two points here now, whereas the new place has three – I can’t be blamed if these folks aren’t better prepared! :)). The only down point was coming to find this morning that the owners hadn’t really done much to clean up the place before I moved in, but it’s really nothing that can’t be worked through. Overall, it was a good day and I look forward to picking up where I left off again in the morning!

I don’t necessarily look forward to the exercising that I’ve also commited myself to doing tomorrow, but again, that’s another blog post… 😛

Why in the world am I up this late?!

Ok, so I had certainly planned on going to bed just a bit earlier than this…but then I found The Punisher on Showtime and I’ve been meaning to watch it for the longest time because it was shot in downtown Tampa. It was alright – a bit bloody for my own tastes, but at the same time it’s kinda neat to see the same streets that I drive down every day up on the big screen. Travolta’s character was also a huge jerk, but not nearly in a fun way this time (remember in Broken Arrow? “Please do not shoot at the thermonuclear weapons…” Now that was good cinema, but I digress…

Tomorrow will be a busy day, so I suppose at 4AM I should finally get some sleep. Writing another check and picking up keys in the morning, then hauling and unpacking the rest of the day. Maybe a little painting, perhaps some interior decorating … next step, here I come…

Also…

I learned that there’s a new GTA game out – Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories – but it’s only available for the PSP…wtf?! I was so psyched reading the strategy guide in Target, only to learn that I’m not going to get to play it because I’m not buying a stupid PSP.

Maybe it’s time to clear off the old memory card and start up on GTA3 again…

“I’d rather be happy than right anyday…”

Where did we leave off???

Yes, yes – the shopping! Well, I ended up cutting my day short because a man can only take so much shopping in any given day – I’ll just have to hit up the mall next week – but I did manage to not only get the DVD rack that I’ve been looking for, but also a second bookshelf for my office and…luck behold…I got the last one, on clearance for less than half of what I bought the other one for! I also picked up a new Aerosmith CD that has the boys playing a bunch of their old stuff at the Hard Rock in Vegas…quite reminiscent of the days when I used to skip out of class early to go see them downstate back home.

Also, I finally had the chance to watch The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy on pay-per-view and to say the very least, I really wish I’d have made the time to go see this one six months ago. Sure, there was a bit of Hollywood-type cheese that I really don’t remember from the books and although I might have to re-read them now, I certainly don’t remember there being that many romantic undertones between Arthur and Trillian, but I would say for those fans who thought that the Lord of the Rings movies did a good job at visually portraying the world that Tolkein had created for us in his books, this is certainly the equivalent for Douglas Adams’ masterpiece. And for the record, I rank the Lord of the Rings among the best movies of all time, so I guess it goes without saying that this one will be added to my collection before too long! The views of Magrathera alone make this movie worth watching, and right now those who haven’t read the books are saying, “Magra-who?!” You know, Magrathera – where all the planets in existance are actually built. Slartibartfast won an award for a little number we know as Norway. Any of this ringing a bell???

…nevermind…

So anyways, only two more nights here on Baywater Drive at this point…that is, unless I don’t feel like sleeping on the inflatable bed at my new place and end up coming back here until we move furniture next weekend. It’s kind of sad, and kind of exciting at the same time – I guess similar to when I first moved down here, actually. My, how time flies these days…

a new day

So today is to be a polar opposite of yesterday – I’m going to go shopping in preparation for the move, probably spend considerably more money than I really should, and have a fabulous time doing so. Best Buy, Target, Office Depot, and Westshore Mall are all on the list to receive a visit this afternoon, and possibly Kanes, too…that is, if I can find a way around their less than desirable financing plan… 😛

But first, to the gym!

a wise man once said…

“One doesn’t know how much crap he’s truly accumulated until he’s piled it up in the centers of his living and dining rooms…”

What a pain in the ass, I tell ya! Today I cleaned out my office to make way for the construction that my apartment complex is starting Monday and as you can see below, it was a busy day! Hopefully that’ll end up being the worst because I think it was the most stuff crammed into the smallest possible space … which, of course, means that my new office is going to be freakin’ sweet. I think I’ll have room for the couches and everything – it should actually look like a real office is supposed to by the time I’m done! Server box will be tucked away in the closet so I don’t have to listen to the stupid fans day and night, which is going to be a nice change by itself because right now its sitting in the middle of my living room and at this point it seems to be noisier than ever. I’d still like to replace parts of it for Christmas, but we’ll have to see how bad the budget is first – I’ve got a feeling that I’m going to be swiping that card many a time over the next couple of weeks… 😉
